EcoSense Urban Monitor

About this project

The goal of EcoSense was to enable city planners to monitor and react to environmental conditions instantly, a true example of transforming ideas into reality via edge computing.

This project involved full-stack IoT development. We developed custom, low-power firmware (C++) for the connected sensor network, optimized for reliable data transmission over mesh networks. The high-velocity sensor data is ingested via a serverless architecture, processed in real-time, and streamed to the front-end dashboard built with Three.js for data visualization. The dashboard renders interactive, geographically accurate 3D map views of urban areas, allowing planners to visualize air quality plumes or traffic density instantly. This required significant creativity in visualizing dense, multidimensional data streams into a clear, performant interface, helping MetroTech provide crucial data for smarter, greener urban development initiatives.
